Country Music’s Rap Scuffle: Jelly Roll Vs. The Black Keys

Jelly Roll Expresses Sour Taste for The Black Keys’ Recent Release

Respect and Criticism: Jelly Roll’s Mixed Feelings toward The Black Keys’ “Delta Kream”

Despite the exciting promise of something different, like potato salad at a barbecue, this here news ain’t all savory, y’all. The Nashville rapper, Jelly Roll, known to intertwine country and rap, put The Black Keys on blast for their new country-blues album, “Delta Kream.” Though they hail from a corner of the world blooming with blues and country licks, Jelly Roll is as ruffled as a hound on a porch in heat, saying they should’ve featured more true-blue country artists, just to keep it real.

Now, don’t get me wrong, he’s not entirely sour on ’em – more like a half glass of lemonade with a pinch of salt. He respects ’em, thinks a couple songs are toe-tappin’, but believes that if you’re gonna play in the country-blues field, you need to go the whole hog, not just trot out the piglets. So while all those music purists out there are twiddling their thumbs waiting to see how The Black Keys respond, I reckon we rustle ourselves up some popcorn, grab a rocker on the porch, and watch this good ol’ music hoedown unfold. It might be hotter than a stallion in summer, y’all! Stay tuned!
