– Honey, Dolly Parton recently had herself a bit of a cry recounting a Christmas when her dear Mama didn’t get gifts of her own. Bless her heart.
– As you may well know, Miss Dolly done grown up poor as dirt in the hills of Tennessee, and her Mama worked like a mule to keep them twelve children fed and clothed.
– This past Christmas, Dolly was interviewed on this TV program “The Talk” and she up and choked back tears as she told how her Mama, used to her own Christmas mornin’ bein’ short on material gifts, put emphasis on love and family instead. Warms your heart more than a hickory fire, don’t it?
– Dolly was so moved by her Mama’s grace under hardship that she wrote a song called “Circle of Love,” which is about letting love fill in where material possessions can’t. Just like Mama Parton, that one.
– Oh, and to top it all off, Dolly pulls out a surprise! She had not one, but three Christmas specials last year: “Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square,” “A Holly Dolly Christmas,” and “CMA Country Christmas.” Talk about finishing the year with a bang!
