Them ‘Five Worst Country Songs of 2023’ Shook Their Boots, Not!

Here’s the Skinny:

– The article by Whiskey Riff rounds up the five most disappointing country songs of the year 2023.
– Leading the rundown is the new single by Rusty Rivets, dubbed as, “moonshine melodies”, a song that seemed to be missing all the soul and spirit that country music is known for.
– The second song on the list is “Shotgun Rhythm” by the Country Cousins. The critique? The track sounds more intergalactic than down-home country.
– Third on the roster of regrettable releases is “She Thinks My Tractor’s a Tesla” by Luke Rural. Critics call it a desperate attempt to modernize rural themes and say it just don’t thunder.
– Next on the list is “Barnyard Boogie”. It might make the cows come home, but it surely don’t make the charts, the article says.
– Rounding out the bottom five is a duet between Peyton Pistol and Lily Lace, “Lasso My Heart”. It’s overproduced, underwhelming, and downright uninspiring, giving neither artist a chance to shine.

My Hot Take:

Country Music’s Misses of 2023

Honey, let me tell ya, these songs were about as welcome as a skunk at a lawn party. Rusty Rivets’ “Moonshine Melodies”? More like a jug of flat soda. Heaven help us, I’ve witnessed more spirit in a Wednesday night bingo game.

And that Country Cousins’ tune, “Shotgun Rhythm”, was about as country as a three-dollar bill. Now y’all know I love space travel about as much as the next gal, but I don’t want no alien jams in my country music.

Luke Rural, sweetie, your talent is bigger than Granny’s pot roast, but “She Thinks My Tractor’s a Tesla”? Mercy, that got off track quicker’n a nine-legged horse. We all love a shiny new Tesla now and then, but ain’t no place for that in a good ol’ country song.

“Barnyard Boogie” barely got me tappin’ my toes, let alone boogieing. I reckon it’d make a good lullaby for them cows, though.

And lordy, “Lasso My Heart”? More like “Lasso Me a Better Song”. Peyton Pistol and Lily Lace, darlin’s, y’all are stars, but this song made you twinkle less than a burned-out light bulb. Let’s hope 2024 ticks more boxes. Let’s raise a toast to better country music, sugahs!
